About Dr. Jessica Switzer
Who Am I?
As a Registered Psychologist in Alberta, I have a passion for working with children, adolescents, and families. Growing up in a small town in Southwestern Ontario, I appreciate the importance of family, community, and a sense of belonging. During my undergraduate degree, I spent my summers working at a specialized camp for children and teens presenting with a variety of mental health concerns. It was through this work, that my eagerness and dedication to a career in the field of mental health emerged.
In 2013, I moved across the country to begin my Masters and PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Calgary. Falling in love with the outdoors and the mountain views, Calgary quickly became home. I currently work in the public sector, working with children who have experienced maltreatment and/or abuse and their families. When I’m not supporting children, teens, and their families, you can find me hiking in the mountains with my family, biking around Calgary, out for a walk, or at the dog park,
My practice is evidence-based and uniquely guided by the needs of your child/teen and family. I have a breadth of training in several treatment modalities and my practice is largely informed by cognitive-behavioural and attachment-based approaches. If you are looking for an empirically-supported, yet creative and flexible approach to therapy, please feel free to reach out to hear more about my practice. I look forward to connecting with you!
